Skye Charlie is a lover of all things fashion and beauty. She is originally from Kenya/Democrat Republic of Congo and resides in the DC metropolitan region. She is a full-time hairstylist specializing in textured hair. She is the Backstage Manager and Internship coordinator for Maggy Francois LLC, a boutique event design firm that focuses on the comprehensive planning and design of fashion events, amongst others. Her recent projects include: directing the DC Fashion Incubator at Macy's Metro Center Autumn and Spring runway shows, directing the Smithsonian Women's Committee Craft2Wear runway show, and designing the wardrobe concept for the Broadway production "Thoughts of a Colored Man" choreographed by actor Taye Diggs and Jenny Parsinen.
She is the Co-Founder of ThriveLounge, a local organization geared towards serving millennial women in the D.C metropolitan area. She's an active board member of the Afropolitan Youth Association who’s objective is to network, unite & empower youth of African heritage towards a positive future.
She is the former Director of Fashion for Fest Africa USA (2011-2015). And a former modeling and acting coach for Barbizon USA (2012). Skye is the 2015 recipient of the DMV 30 under 30 Awards in Fashion Production. The 2014 recipient of the Bright Girls Shine in Fashion award, and in 2012 she was awarded the WETATI Fashion Director of the Year.
Skye is a co-author of "From Blank Space to Blogging Brilliance" and is a co-author of WETATI “Collective Empowerment Short Stories." When she is not pursuing her fashion career she dedicates her time to empowering youth and women through community service and advocacy. Skye holds a BA in Law and Society and a minor in Communications Studies. She is proud of her roots and her steadfast determination to become a prominent leader in and for her generation.
Skye is available for workshops, consultation, hosting, and directing/planning fashion shows.
